What is a mate’s bed?
It is a space-saving platform bed featuring built-in storage drawers or shelves integrated directly into the base beneath the mattress. Originally named for the compact sleeping quarters used by ship officers’ mates, modern versions are designed to maximize bedroom floor space without sacrificing style.
